The Thresher Sharks of Malapascua
Malapascua is about the only place in the world where recreational divers can encounter Thresher Sharks on a near daily basis. Thresher Sharks are natural deep dwellers, spending the vast majority of their time at depths well below recreational and often Technical diving limits.
There are three species of Thresher Shark, distributed around the globe. In Malapascua we see The Pelagic Thresher Shark (as opposed to Bigeyes or The Common Thresher Shark).

All the rooms are a stone’s throw from the beach and surrounded by palm trees, sand and hammocks. In one of the quietest areas of Malapascua, Evolution offers you a great location to rest, relax and unwind between and after diving.
All rooms have complimentary drinking water and personal terraces, just metres from the beach, restaurant and diveshop.
Please note a minimum certification of AOW or equivalent is required for the Thresher shark dive, or the divers need to be guided by an instructor which incurs a higher cost. Also government regulations require anyone with less than 50 dives experience to do a check dive with us before visiting the thresher shark site.

Passport requirement – must have 6 months remaining until expiration date upon return to USA.

REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN
Some sunscreen ingredients are not safe for corals; these include oxybenzone. Research indicates that these chemicals can cause DNA damage to corals, promote viruses in corals, and contribute to the bleaching of corals. So that we can help protect our reefs, we encourage our guests to choose and use a sunscreen that is “coral safe”.
