Welcome to Spice Island Divers
Ambon, Indonesia

Spice Island Divers is perfectly situated in the best spot in Ambon Bay. Our secluded location is just next to the world famous "Twilight Zone" dive site. The resort was purpose built with all the needs of divers in mind. Our fantastic team will go out of their way to ensure you have an excellent time during your visit with us.
The Spice Islands got their name due to the nutmeg, mace, and cloves that were endemic to the area. These spices sparked colonial interest from Europe in the 16th century and resulted in the first circumnavigation of the earth amongst other world-changing events. While the European explorers often get the attention, they were, in fact, last of Arab, Indian and Chinese traders to discover these rich islands
In 1863 Dutch Ichthyologist Pieter Bleeker was the first to record 783 species of fish in Ambon bay alone. This number is astounding considering the basic means he used to collect them and document them.
DIVE
Spice Island Dive Resort is set up with everything you need to explore your underwater photography journey. Our camera room provides ample space and individual stations for guests to prepare their cameras for their next dive.
Without a doubt, Ambon offers some of the best of the best Critter, Muck or Macro diving on the planet. Not only are there creatures that are only found here like the unique and exotic "Ambon Frogfish," but Ambon also has maybe the highest concentration of critters found anywhere. Perhaps the best part, however, would have to be that you can have all the critters you like but without all the crowds of other divers.
While Ambon does have the world's most unique and rare critters, there are also some beautiful reefs and a fantastic wreck to balance out your dive adventure.
Dive groups are limited to a maximum of 4 divers per dive-guide. Smaller groups can be arranged on request.

This is an optional side trip, to Coralia Dua
Our voyage on Coralia Dua concludes at the remote island of Ambon. Have you heard of Ambon? It's a muck diving destination, that is second to none. That is my opinion, and many will say that it is second to Lembeh Straits (I dove in 2013 and 2022), and I won't argue that statement, but I dove in Ambon for 4 days in 2017, searching for the elusive Psychedelic Frogfish (see video below). We didn't find it, but it seems to allow itself to be found every 6-8 years, so maybe we'll get lucky? But I did see my first, second, and third Rhinopias Scorpionfish in Ambon, and there was so much else to see - the videos below give a good example of the many critters that are seen in a great muck diving destination.

REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN
Some sunscreen ingredients are not safe for corals; these include oxybenzone. Research indicates that these chemicals can cause DNA damage to corals, promote viruses in corals, and contribute to the bleaching of corals. So that we can help protect our reefs, we encourage our guests to choose and use a sunscreen that is “coral safe”.
