Fakarava South – Camouflage Grouper Spawn: June 29-July 9, 2023

Description

Welcome to Fakarava

Many people dream of a holiday on the island of Fakarava.  This atoll is located in French Polynesia, specifically in the Tuamotu archipelago.  Fakarava is the second largest atoll in all of French Polynesia, and belongs to the commune of the same name, which is made up of six other atolls.

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

Fakarava is so unique.  Due to the long isolation of the island from the mainland, unique animals and plants could develop on the island.  Since very few people live on the island of Fakarava, humans also have a very small impact on the copious flora and fauna of the island.

The island of Fakarava has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2006 and so it remains cso beautiful and breathtaking.  As a biosphere reserve, the urbanization of the island is prevented and active efforts are made to protect the island’s animals and plants.

Diving Experience of a Lifetime

Not only above the water, but also under water a incredible world is waiting for you.  Fakarava has one of the most breathtaking coral reefs in the world.  The water is lukewarm throughout the year, so the only thing you need to snorkel is very simple equipment.

Under water you can see the glowing corals of Fakarava, as well as huge schools of fish.  The experiences you can make in the water around Fakarava are almost endless.  Whether you are adventurous and want to watch sharks, or simply enjoy the reef is up to you

REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN

Some sunscreen ingredients are not safe for corals; these include oxybenzone. Research indicates that these chemicals can cause DNA damage to corals, promote viruses in corals, and contribute to the bleaching of corals. So that we can help protect our reefs, we encourage our guests to choose and use a sunscreen that is “coral safe”.
